i am hospitalised for the first time

athena was admitted to KKH for infantile asthma on 19 oct 2009. she was so breathless and was running high fever on few days. She was on hourly ventolin for continously for 2 days but her breathlessness did not improved. She was so breathless that she could not even suck her milk. In the end she was nil by mouth and was sent to the high dependency ward. I was so worried for athena that she cried and she prayed hard that athena do not need to use the CPAP machine to help her in reducing her breathing work. Lucky after admitted into high dependency ward for 3 days, athena's conditon did improve. phew!!! thanks god for that!!!

athena 1st time having running nose and cough

Last friday, athena shown the first sign of running nose and cough after going to infant care for two days. When our decision in putting her in infant care, i knew that she will get URTI- upper respiratory tract infection or GE - gastroentritis easily. These are the common illness that children will get it. I am praying hard that she will be healthy and will not get all these. But still, she has running nose and cough. Lucky the fever never come along. If not, we have to send her to KKH.

Hopefully the running nose and cough will resolve by tomorrow so that i can send her back to infant care on Wednesday.

My chubby little has redness in her neck fold

Athena is getting more and more chubby as the days go. Inevitably, she has this double chin which prevent the air to circulate her neck thus causing redness and foul smell at her neck. No matter how hard i tried to clean her neck, it still present.

I went to search in the website and there are few solutions to this problem.

• Keep the neck clean and dry
• Apply of the cornstarch to the neck
• Apply of the barrier cream to prevent the sweat from wetting the skin

Hopefully her rashes on her neck can be resolved soon.

Yestersday, my classmates from NYP nursing came to visit athena. I am so touched as they specially arrange to take leave to make this visit possible. We really enjoy one another's company. What a nice and warm gathering!!! Cheers...

Having eczema, not infant acne

Last wednesday, athena went to polyclinic for her 2nd dose of hep B injection. As she had ear discharges in the morning, we decided to see the doctor at the same time after her jab. After the doctor had seen her, we were told that she had eczema and sensitive nose. Then we realised that she was not having any infant acne. No medication was given to her as she is too young.

Infant acne

On 3rd week after birth, athena's face appears a lot of the small whitish spot and these spots get obvious when she is feeling warm or crying. The whitish spot will be suurounded with reddness of the skin. Both of us get worry cos we dun know why she has them. Anyway after reading this information, i am now feel at ease.
